October STEPS Meeting Minutes

Thank you so much to Jim Vass with Acock/Anaqua for hosting the meeting and to Josh McDowell for providing the meeting room at TAMUCC.

Purpose: The South Texas Exploration and Production Safety Network, commonly known as the STEPS Network, promotes safety, health and environmental improvement in the exploration and production of oil and gas in South Texas . The STEPS Network fosters a work environment that relies upon open communication and trust.

Marianne McGee, OSHA Compliance Assistant Specialist, Corpus Christi Area Office

• Robert Lobaugh with Lobaugh and Associates was very informative about NORM and now we realize we all may glow with some type of radio active material.


• Josh McDowell  with TAMUCC spoke and showed two films about the gas vapor escapes (what an eye opener).


• Charlie Carr with PEC and Wayne LeBlanc with WC Safety Systems talked about hurricane Katrina and showed slides of New Orleans and the  Louisiana area that I hadn't seen and gave praise and thanks to their sister state of Texas.  Just a reminder that even though we THINK we are in charge of our lives (WE ARE NOT).


• Larry McAuley with Kane Environmental told us about spills and how to handle one (clean it up) OR if we live long enough (years and years and years down the road) mother nature will clean herself. 


• Edward Cavazos and Colin Woods with DISA, INC. talked about tracking substance abuse users. 

Hope to see ALL OF YOU at the November 16th meeting which should again be held at the Holiday Inn Airport - 8:00am.  If any of you would like to do a PRESENTATION at the November meeting  please let us know.
