ESTABLISHED IN 2003:

The first STEPS Network was established in Corpus Christi, TX in 2003 as a collaborative effort between companies in the exploration and production industry and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Corpus Christi regional STEPS Network was so successful that it led to the establishment of sister Networks throughout the country.

OUR PURPOSE:

Vision

"Incident-Free Operations"

Objective

The South Texas Exploration and Production Safety Network, commonly known as the STEPS Network, promotes safety, health and environmental improvement in the exploration and production of oil and gas in South Texas. The STEPS Network fosters a work environment that relies upon open communication and trust.

Scope

The STEPS Network includes Operators and Contractors in the Oil and Gas Exploration, Production and Product Transmission industry as equally valued members. The STEPS Network encompasses the geographic region within the Texas Border along Interstate 10 from east of Houston, west to Del Rio and south to the Rio Grande Valley.

Methods The STEPS Network will:
  • Meet periodically to share and discuss safety, health and environmental incidents, best practices and related issues.
  • Establish focus groups to address specific issues.
  • Work with other organizations, including but not limited to: OSHA, IADC, API, and EPA.

Resources Required

Member companies should designate representatives to participate in meetings, contributing knowledge, information and support.
